FAQ
Smooth Airframes started, and still is all about the hobby of FPV. We wanted a frame that could withstand the inevitable beating and keep the pilot in the air. Less time repairing carbon = more fun.
Contacting us is easy. Reach out to me personally on my Instagram or our contact page on this site and I'll do my very best to get back you as soon as possible. Or if you see me in person just tell me what's up. If I can answer the question there I'll do so. If not, it'll be answered as soon I can.
All my 3D prints come from either me, or the Erodbuilds Esty shop. If you need something printed, hit either one of us up and we can do our best to make it work. The Etsy shop has a little bit of everything on there, you should definitely check it out. Just another local guy trying to support the hobbyist community.
Honestly... That's a loaded question. And the easiest way for me to answer is that it's about the size of the company. We're small, and that affects the amount of products we order at a time. So the more everyone buys, the larger the carbon order I can make and the cheaper I will get it. The saving will always be passed onto the customer. The customer is always on my mind. I want to provide the best product I can at a cost that will benefit the both of us.
The carbon fiber is sourced and cut from a company out of Canada, CNC Madness. Nick and the crew have dealt with me and my obsessiveness for years now and continually provide me with exceptional service. They use the Matte T300 plain weave for all my orders and we've had great results so far.
As for the time being, I prefer to use all Stainless. The durability seems to have a nice balance between bending and breaking. I found that a bent screw is better than broken carbon, and it's rust resistant. Gotta keep those screws looking fresh. The standoffs are the standard black aluminum smooth ones that anyone can get easily.
